Announcing: Middle Grade Series- "A Girl and Her Griffon!"
Since we definitely need another world around here!
Positive entertainment is definitely the word around here, and it helps fuel and shape everything we do. Other authors are answering the call by producing books for children that help shape their views and ideals from a young age, which is absolutely excellent. But, there's certainly a place for stories for older children and adults. That's why we've broken it down thusly:
Euphony of Seasons- Low-stakes, easy everyday fantasy primarily targeted toward adults, largely because adults need a break from the harshness of everyday life. The first book in the series, Paper & Feathers, will be released in November of this year.
Torchmouth Saga- YA spiritual fantasy, set in the modern day and meant to show the faith through example rather than long theological conversations. Heroes defeat evil using their God-given powers and talents, but do so with mercy and justice in mind. The first book in this series, Octave of Stars, was released in January of this year.
That left our younger middle-grade readers without any representation. Until now!
Inspired largely by the imaginative rantings of my children and their armies of stuffed animals, the Girl and Her Griffon series will follow the adventures of Vivi, a creature handler who means well but gets a little overwhelmed sometimes, and her faithful griffon Rary, who also means well and in the words of an early reader, is "endlessly optimistic." This story started out as a quick, cute little tale and ended up getting a lot more complicated than even I intended it to ever be, so hopefully it will be enjoyable to you and your younger ones also.
The official blurb:
Vivi has tamed griffons, dragons, owls and many sizes of cats. She just has a hard time in crowds. The All-Lands Tournament is only held every other year and it's the perfect opportunity to learn new things, have fun and meet new people. But hopefully not too many people. The food vendors would be interesting, if she didn't have to bring all of her own food anyway. There's so much to do and see, at least before she has to go take a break in a quiet spot. Who knows what other opportunities await? Follow the adventures of Vivi and Rary as they navigate the twists and turns of competition and cooperation. Perfect for fans of the Castle Glower Series, Winnie-the-Pooh, and Pokémon.
There's a lot in here, from thrilling races to tense battles, between creatures and possibly their handlers too. It's also quite short, only novella sized, so you can give it to your littles to read on a short car ride or on a lazy afternoon.
Currently the story is free and available right now. I highly recommend using the BookFunnel app or the cloud reader for the most streamlined experience. Please give it a read and tell me what you think in the comments!
Hooray, I love this story so much! Will you be making a print version, Zephyr? I ask because I'd like to give a copy to my niece, whose name also happens to be Vivien!
